One of my friends just bought a 1996 with the 5.8. Magnaflow exhaust, beefy tires, massive V8. SO AWESOME. I need one now.

5.8 is not big enough. Powerstroke swap needs to happen.

My buddy and roommate last year had a '96 with a built motor (I can't remember specific details), f/r bumpers, winch, 35" km2s, true duals, spooled rear, and it was in incredible shape. We had an absolute blast in that thing. Wish I had any pics. Definitely on my list of cars I'll own before I die. DO ITTTT.

my 90 f150 had a 302... Pretty sure they were 150 hp in a truck that weighs as much as Pluto

A 7.3 would be insane in one of these!

7.3 + ZF6 = All the Awesomes!

I approve, as long as it's white!

I don't know... the 'Stroke is a 1,000 lb engine, which would be a significant portion of the total Bronco weight... with that short wheelbase, you might end up with a real handful!

Personally, I prefer the big Broncos (1978 and 1979):

Ya I prefer those as well! The mid 90's broncos can be had for sooooooo cheap and usually in good shape. That's why I like them.

Indeed. I spent a lot of time in a 93 or 94 and thought it was a really nice truck. It rode well, had a nice interior (it was only a couple years old at this time), and had plenty of power with the 302. The 351 must be downright quick!

Keep in mind that if you lift it, the front suspension angles will get all wonkey. I don't know much about these, but I know people throw money at them to get them sorted out after a lift. Luckily, it's been done millions of times so there should be lots of information on what to do!

My grabdpa used to have a Bronco II. Which, I suppose, was the wimpy one of the bunch, but it was still a ton of fun. Matter of fact, Motorweek just posted their original review of it:

It's been done before! Besides, a pretty common mod is swapping the shitty twin I-beam for 1 ton solid axles.

Oh I don't doubt it's been done (there's nothing new under the sun)! I just wouldn't think it'd be all that well matched to the machine! I'd bet you'd ruin a fine driving Bronco. I spent a fair amount of time driving one with a 302 in the mid 90s and thought it felt pretty good as it was. I would expect that the mass of another 302 bolted to the front bumper would be un-good for pretty much everything, but I've never driven a 'Stroke Bronco so I can't speak from a position of knowledge... I only have ass umptions here!

My friend had a regular cab, short bed F150 with the 302, and actually prefers driving his regular cab, long bed IDI truck.
